Median based modified ratio estimators for the estimation of finite population mean with known quartiles and median and skewness
Abstract
The current study examines a few modified ratio estimators based on ratio-cum-median estimators for predicting the finite population mean using known auxiliary variable parameters such as quartiles, median, skewness, and their linear combinations. The efficiency of the proposed estimators is evaluated both algebraically and numerically and compared with the sample mean and the conventional ratio estimator under Simple Random Sampling Without Replacement (SRSWOR). The numerical comparison demonstrates that the proposed estimators outperform both the conventional ratio estimator and the sample mean under SRSWOR.
