Artificial intelligence and human consciousness: A survey

Abstract

This paper presents an extensive review of the debates on the question: if artificial intelligence can or cannot be conscious? The goal is educational and in this way we want to offer the reader an insight into problematic questions in science, not just the facts that are already well known. The work is part of chapter 11 of our book entitled ``What is meant by consciousness today''?
