Abstract

Elliptic functions are of prime importance for physics and mathematics students. We study the Weierstrass elliptic family of functions in the real domain as the solution to an initial value problem. Basic features of the Weierstrass elliptic family and the relation with the Jacobi elliptic functions are derived from the fundamental theory and methods of differential equations. Our approach allows introducing these functions in the undergraduate curriculum very early, reducing time and effort.
