Abstract

In this paper we present easily verifiable sufficient conditions which guarantee the existence of periodic solutions of discrete time competition systems with strictly positive components governed by non-autonomous difference equations. These equations model the dynamics of the competitive interaction among populations having non-overlapping generations living in a periodic environment. Our technique is based on the coincidence degree and the related continuation theorem as well as some priori estimates. Applications of the main results to some population models, which have been studied extensively in the literature, are also presented.
