Identification of continuously distributed load based on inverse analysis

  • Toshiya Nakamura

Abstract

The data of operational load is quite useful in managing the structural integrity of an aerospace system. Identifying the aerodynamic load from finite number of measured strain data is not easy because the load distributes continuously on the structure surface which means the degree of freedom is infinity. A flexible representation of continuous load distribution is proposed in the present study and the full-field continuous load is reconstructed from finite number of strain data using the conventional finite element method and pseudo-inverse matrix. The effects of measurement error are discussed where two methods of rank reduction and Tikhonov-Phillips regularization are employed to improve the accuracy of the inverse analysis. It will be shown that both two methods are effective but the determination of the proper rank and regularization parameter are not easy.
